The Offer The Option and Thank You Video

i was offered
several times
of a great place to live...

House At Dusk, 1935, Edward Hopper

a mansion,
a palace,
a villa,
as we may call it.

but I am happy
that I did not grab the bait.

for I know,
for them to keep it,
i will be there all by myself,
most of the time.

I would rather be,
and I am glad to have chosen
our simple man's place
just enough space
for the two of us,
to live happy and
contented...

  3. Excellent and wise words. Better to live in a small cozy home with the people who are important to you than to live in a big empty home waiting for them to return from hard work to keep you in that home.
And kudos to you for your blog!

  5. Loved your interpretation of the house. A house isn't a home unless it's shared with those we love and who loves us, really?
Congratulations on blogging for a year!!

  8. being alone with just enough room for two can sometimes be the beset thing for a relationship because it's so much less complicated

    neither good nor bad

  15. What a touching video, J.J. You are so sweet and thoughtful to remember your friends, those few who've commented on and stuck by you through your desire to put in English - a language that is not your mother tongue - your personal touch, your depth of thought and insight into our global world and what it means to live, love and appreciate what life has to offer each and every one of us.
My sister-in-law, who lives with us all here in Holland, is also from the Philippines - Bohee Lake. It is my greatest wish to be able to visit her people, her homeland, someday. What a paradise it seems. Cheers

  16. Yes, big fancy houses are great if you don't have to take care of them! much nicer to live with someone you care for in peace!
