River, Marina Moevs, 2005
Take 1:
RIVER, water
a source of life
a sight of beauty...
but i warn thee
to be careful
for a silent river
might also be a danger...
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take 2:
Be like a river
that offers a drink
to the thirsty
exhausted
exhausted
traveller...
Free
fresh
and never ending...

Very nice, JJ. I like Take2 best. Good work as usual but I may be a bit blinded by love. Hehe.
ReplyDeleteThese two takes contain the essence of very strong narrative poems, and it would be interesting to see how they developed if you explored them further... particularly take 2, which hints at a great voice, and a unique perspective on the picture.
ReplyDeleteThe two faces of the river. Nicely done.
ReplyDeletetwo ways of looking ....excellent! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletethat's life, way to go.
ReplyDeletelovely beginning and finish,
well done.
These are wonderful. I especially like the mystery of the first one.
ReplyDeleteExploring the depth of those blue, never ending waters. True and poignant pieces.
ReplyDeleteI like what Semaphore said
ReplyDeleteand I agree that I lingered on the second one
I have love like a river
I have love like a river
I have love like a river in my my soul
.....loved this song from childhood
hi, i like take two best as well....never ending...nice!!
ReplyDeleteLove the contrast between the two.
ReplyDeleteDear JJ: Both takes are dramatic; capturing the pure essence of the prompt. Rivers can dangerous and also they can provide necessity. Love the economy of well-chosen words. Reminds me of a haiku.
ReplyDeleteboth really good, but I love the second one :)
ReplyDeleteParengJJ,
